Viper Transitions announces first aviation program cohort starting may 2021 in partnership with AMFA

CENTENNIAL, CO – April 20, 2021 - The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) announced a new aviation program designed to train transitioning military members and active-duty spouses in aircraft maintenance. The program was being conducted by VIPER Transitions, an organization dedicated to ending veteran suicide through counseling, camaraderie, and skilled training toward a rewarding career. AMFA also announced a $10,000 donation to VIPER Transitions toward the purchase of program tooling.

Started in 2018 by a group of veterans, VIPER Transitions was created to address the challenges veterans can face transitioning to civilian life and employment.

Participants in the program would be transitioning military members and active-duty spouses without an aviation maintenance background. Upon completion they would be guaranteed employment in the field, or the ability to continue their education toward an Airframe and Powerplant certification.

The first cohort was set to start May 17, 2021 in Anchorage, Alaska, with around ten students going through an intensive 12-week program adapted from curriculum provided by the Aviation Institute of Maintenance.
