LEAD INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER (PT/Remote/Temp)
Choose Aerospace is seeking a part-time, remote, contracted Lead Instructional Designer to lead a one-year project enhancing its General Aviation Maintenance Curriculum and related teaching aids.
The Lead Instructional Designer will review curriculum modules, recommend improvements, develop instructional aids and hands-on labs, and support Choose Aerospace's annual teacher training.
The right candidate would commit 10-20 hours per week for one year. While much of the work can be done on the contractor's own schedule, some meetings will be required during regular work hours.
Additional opportunities may be available following the initial term, subject to organizational needs and funding; continued work is not guaranteed.

Key Responsibilities
- Review General Aviation Maintenance Curriculum and recommend improvements.
- Gather and incorporate feedback from teachers using the curriculum.
- Develop and refine teaching aids and resources, learning activities, hands-on labs, and related materials.
- Identify content gaps and technical questions requiring additional subject matter expertise.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts for targeted input, validation, and review.
- Evaluate and incorporate feedback while maintaining instructional consistency and alignment with project goals.
- Maintain consistent terminology, formatting, instructional approach, and quality across work product.
- Support the planning and delivery of annual Choose Aerospace teacher training.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or educational content production.
- Experience teaching the general subject areas set forth in the FAA Mechanic Airman Certification Standards.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging, and instructionally sound materials.
- Experience developing teaching aids, assessments, instructor resources, learner activities, and hands-on labs.
- Strong writing, editing, organizational, and project-management skills.
- Experience collaborating with technical SMEs and evaluating technical feedback.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency.
- Experience in aviation maintenance education, career and technical education, competency-based learning, or industry credentialing is preferred. Adobe InDesign experience is also preferred.
